PS5 scalpers fly in the mouth: Walmart rejects return attempts
PS5 scalpers appear to be scrambling to get rid of their supplies as Sony’s console shortage finally comes to an end. But anyone who shows up at a Walmart with four PS5s in tow and wants to return them obviously has bad cards
They are not only hated in the gaming sector, but in every market where you can create artificial shortages and thus high prices: scalpers! They are particularly noticeable among gamers because they drive up the price of consoles and graphics cards. Of course, it’s all the nicer when you can see how PS5 scalpers are now sitting on their goods.
PS5 scalpers fail with console refund at Walmart
Mainly due to the pandemic, there was a semiconductor shortage – and without this console component, not enough PS5 could be produced to meet the high demand. The fact that scalpers enriched themselves probably annoys every gamer. But now the problem is gone, which is why an interesting phenomenon can be observed: PS5 scalpers are trying to get refunds for consoles.
Reddit user Donthurtmyceilings uploaded a photo of it:
In the picture we see someone with three to four PS5 consoles in their shopping cart and talking to Walmart customer service. According to the Reddit user, he tried to return them. Another user adds that he’s seen the same thing at another Walmart – and the scalpers don’t seem to be having any success with their refund attempts: “Apparently he was told that all Walmarts in the area had been informed not to take them back.”
That’s what the internet community says about the scalper’s failure
The rest of the people in the comment thread were visibly happy about this information:
- “Yeah, seeing that puts a smile on my face.”
- “He’ll be lucky if he can sell them for close to the original price. But with the eBay cut and the interest on the credit card, the scalper could easily lose a hundred or so trying to sell the remaining 3 or 4 PS5s to sell.”
- “Hach, when scalpers can no longer make a profit. Nature recovers.🥰“
- “As someone who spent 2 years trying everything to finally get one for the regular price: ‘Fuck people like him'”
Were you able to secure a Playstation 5 for a reasonable price? Or did you not get the coveted PS5 because of scalpers & co.? Do you notice anything about the changed offer? And have you already dealt with scalpers in other areas? Share your experiences in the comments!
