At this year’s Grammyswhich took place on the night of February 5th to 6th, a new category dedicated entirely to video games was honored for the first time. The award for “Best Composed Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media” went to the game Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and its composer Stephanie Economou.
More precisely, Economou and her team were responsible for the music for the “Dawn of Ragnarok” DLC. The soundtrack ultimately beat out four other nominees, including Call of Duty: Vanguard, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Old World.
2023 found the meanwhile 65th Grammy Awards took place and in this context also gave video games their due place. In previous years, video game soundtracks could occasionally take place at the award ceremony, but never in a separate category.
