The beautiful memory game with the impressively simple rules is not only fun but also gets your short-term memory going again. Go find a couple!

The memory game went on sale for the first time in 1959 and was an instant success: the first edition of the original was sold faster than any game before it. In the meantime, almost everyone knows the game with the matching picture pairs.

What one or the other may have noticed is that children are often superior to adults in the picture memory game. This is because children have much better short-term memories compared to adults. Their neurons are linked by many more synapses, allowing them to better focus on the game. Adults, on the other hand, are often elsewhere when playing with their thoughts and quickly lose track of things. The images seen are simply erased from short-term memory.
Still, there are things you can do to improve your performance. In order to master a memory game well, you need a well-functioning short-term memory and a high level of concentration. This is exactly what is trained with the memo. The more you play, the more your visual short-term memory improves. The location of the briefly uncovered and turned over cards must be saved quickly. But if too much new information or distractions are added, the “old” data is deleted and replaced with new ones. Regular practice can help you improve quickly.

Start with the memo and get your short-term memory going.

A small hint: Really only play this game when you have time and don’t have other appointments on your mind. In this way you will quickly have more success!

gameplay

The rules of the game are simple. The memo consists of 20 cards that are laid out face down. Two cards of your choice may be revealed per turn. If you have found a matching pair, this remains face up. If the pictures to be seen do not match, the cards are automatically turned over again. The fewer moves it takes you to find the pairs, the better. The game is won when all ten matching pairs of pictures are uncovered.

tips

To solve the game with fewer moves and get better, you can consider the following helpful tips:

1. Link images to memories
Connect the pictures on the cards with emotional impressions to remember them better. Offer your brain a little mnemonic or think of a story about the motif shown.

2. Full attention to the game!
Children are often better at play than adults because they are better able to focus on the game. Avoid distractions like upcoming tasks or phone calls. Concentrate fully on the game and avoid stress. Stress hormones can negatively affect brain performance.

3. The more you play, the better you get!
Play Memory to train your memory. After a while, you will find it easier to remember things.

4. Associations for a successful game
When information is linked to sensory impressions, it becomes easier to remember them. Sing where the already revealed card is located. This is how you connect the storage location to a melody.
