Nintendo Direct: Our predictions for tonight

Nintendo Direct: Our predictions for tonight

Well, excited for the new Nintendo Direct today?

You’ll definitely need stamina for this – or coffee – because the new show airs at 11pm German time.

What could happen with the Nintendo Direct?

The new Nintendo Direct runs for around 40 minutes, so of course there’s plenty of room to show a lot. But what will be seen?

Nintendo puts it this way: “In the approximately 40-minute presentation, you will mainly get information about games for Nintendo Switch that will be released in the first half of 2023.”

That’s where the word comes in primarily up, so a few hints and/or announcements for the rest of the year are not out of the question. Which wouldn’t be wrong either, because Nintendo’s own line-up for 2023 is rather thin so far.

More on the subject:

But now to the predictions… What might we see?

More from Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Not the most unrealistic tip, after all, the game should appear in May. A new trailer? Quite possible. More than that? Hard to say. It wouldn’t be surprising if the new Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, like other games before it, still gets its own game-specific Direct Edition.

DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 3: The next DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 should be released by the end of April, including a new character. It is quite likely that we will get a small foretaste of it here. It might also depend on the release date.

Next DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: The third track DLC for Mario Markt 8 Deluxe was released in December, so will we see DLC number four soon? So far there have always been four or five months between the DLCs, so the next one could appear in March or April. Might be a bit early for a trailer, unless the DLC comes sooner than expected.

DLC for Splatoon 3: Nintendo had already indicated that an extensive and paid DLC is planned for Splatoon 3. Will we see that in the new Nintendo Direct? Depending on when it’s supposed to appear, it might be too early for that. But maybe there’s some information about free new content.

Is it too early for info on the Splatoon 3 DLC?

DLC for Mario Party Superstars: Haha, good joke, like Nintendo is going to support the Mario Party games with new content after the fact…

News about Pikmin 4: It cannot be ruled out that the game reappeared from oblivion in the previous Nintendo Direct. Are there any other news or even a date for Pikmin 4? At least new details are not an unrealistic idea.

An appointment for Hollow Knight: Silksong: Many are waiting for Hollow Knight: Silksong, hopes of a presence at the Nintendo Direct have recently been disappointed. Maybe this time? The game got its eShop page last week, so does that hint at a release soon? Or even a shadow drop after the direct? Let’s see.

Game Boy Games for Switch Online: There have been reports/rumors that Game Boy games could also be coming to Nintendo Switch Online. So would this direct be a good time to announce that as a side note? If such plans correspond to the facts at all. Would you be happy about that?

Use for Advance Wars: After the start of the war of aggression on Ukraine, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was postponed, will it finally get a release date? The chances are not bad, it’s basically just waiting to be published. Maybe even as a shadow drop?

Something is happening with Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp: Will it finally be released soon?
Is Advance Wars Coming Soon?

Metroid Prime 4: Phew, difficult subject. To be honest, I’m not expecting anything new from Metroid Prime 4 (then you can’t be disappointed). But who knows, maybe after all these years there will finally be at least a new teaser? And what about the Metroid Prime remaster/remake that’s supposed to exist? Questions over questions… fans would certainly be happy.

DLC for Pokémon Crimson and Crimson: Both games are huge hits, but DLC is unlikely to be announced at a Nintendo Direct. It’s more of a Pokemon Direct, and February 27th is Pokemon Day again. That would be more for today. A teaser maybe? Or a preview of the next update that will hopefully improve performance.

Star Fox: Star Fox turns 30 this month. Unless Nintendo totally ignores this anniversary, we could see a few things celebrating this birthday. Maybe a remake/remaster or a port of older titles to the switch? Or even a new Star Fox? After all, Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard are already seven years old, Star Fox 2 was released six years ago.

More ports: There are still ways to bring games from the Wii U to the Switch. Twilight Princess HD and The Wind Waker HD would be such candidates. Or the absolutely cute Yoshi’s Woolly World?

Other surprises: Things you didn’t see coming? Yes, but please! These are always the nicest things at such events, as long as they don’t leak beforehand.
