The smartphone and wearables manufacturer OnePlus recently presented a completely new product for them. Hers will be waiting for us soon first keyboardthat the name Featuring Keyboard 81 Pro carries, and was already teased last year.
It is a fully programmable keyboard with a 75 percent layout and a total of 81 keys. Thus, the usual number pad is missing, but additional keys and a practical rotary switch are available. In addition, the keyboard should be particularly handy thanks to specially adapted keycaps.
These differ depending on the version selected, because the Featuring Keyboard 81 Pro comes with both tactile switches and double-shot PBT caps as well linear switches and the so-called marble-mellow caps.
The latter is a kind of self-creation that, according to the manufacturer, is comparable to the material used in charging cables. This results in the special grip. In any case, the switches are per hot swap can be exchanged at will and thus offer plenty of room for individualisation.
In addition, the keyboard has classic RGB lighting and can be connected via cable or Bluetooth. For the battery life, OnePlus gives a maximum value of 100 hours with a charging time of approx. 5 hours.
OnePlus developed the keyboard in cooperation with the peripheral manufacturer keychronthe one with the Q1 Pro will soon release a keyboard with a similar layout. Both manufacturers were involved in the development of the OnePlus keyboard and are probably targeting the target group that can be won over by the design qualities.
The pre-order phase for the Featuring Keyboard 81 Pro begins in April this year. A price is not yet known, but the comparable product from Keychron will cost $199.99. A similar price range can also be expected here.
