There is a secret ending in Elden Ring – and more players have achieved that than the normal ending

There are many game endings in Elden Ring that fans can influence and control over the course of a playthrough. One thing is true however as very complicated and yet, according to statistics, is the ending that was achieved by most players.

Which ending was the most popular in Elden Ring? There are a total of 6 endings in Elden Ring, 3 of which are tied to trophies or achievements. These are:

• Eldenlord – The normal ending
• Age of Stars – An alternate ending full of magic
• Lord of the Raging Flame – A chaotic ending

While many players now believe that the normal ending is the winner in the race, they are wrong. The Star Age, and thus one of the more complicated and elaborate endings, has won and enjoys the most finishes. However, there is a good reason for this.

What makes Ranni’s ending so special? In Steam and PlayStation stats, Ranni’s ending is the one achieved by the most players:

• On Steam it is 26.0% of all players
• On the PlayStation it is 23.7% of all players

This is not surprising, however, because Ranni’s quest is not only exciting, but also worthwhile from all other endings. It offers lots of armor, weapons, insights into the story and a really atmospheric ending.

The normal ending, on the other hand, ranks second with 18.9% (on PlayStation) and 19.3% (on Steam). The 3rd place is the ending “Lord of the Raging Flame” with only 13.8% (on PlayStation) and 13.2 % (on Steam).

What is fascinating about it is that although Ranni’s quest is so complicated and twisted, it was still preferred by the players. In the majority of cases, you start Souls games from FromSoftware without any previous knowledge and then eventually come to the end.

The stats thus show that many players sat down and worked toward activating the Star Age before going through the ending.

How do endings work in FromSoftware games? The endings in FromSoftware’s Souls games are different. The normal ending activates on its own without any effort. Secret endings, however, require a lot of prep work like collecting a specific item that will only be given by a specific NPC after defeating a specific boss.

This preliminary work involves a lot of effort and requires prior knowledge of how to progress in these quests, because there is no quest journal in the world of Dark Souls or Elden Ring. You only have the dialogues and item descriptions of the NPCs you encounter on your journey.
