Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom should be the focus of tonight’s Nintendo Direct. There’s a good chance that we’ll be able to pre-order it in the eShop afterwards. At what price, that is the question. It was online for a short time, at least in the US shop, and was significantly more expensive than its predecessor.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may even cost 79 euros

That’s what it’s about: Arguably the most anticipated Nintendo Switch game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild is slated for release in May and will likely be revealed in more detail on tonight’s Nintendo Direct show:

US price leaked: The price of Tears of the Kingdom was apparently a little too early in Nintendo’s US eShop – and at $69.99 it was ten dollars more than the price of its predecessor.

The price tag has since been removed from the store, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it stayed the same. Since then, a number of pre-order options have also gone offline at retail retailers in the USA, which were even cheaper.

What does that mean for us? There is a chance that there will also be a price increase for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in Germany and the entire EU shop. There is currently no price to be seen in the eShop.

Would that really be 79.99 euros? It could well be. With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the few Nintendo Switch titles that doesn’t just cost 59.99 euros, but 69.99. If there were another 10 euros, we would be at 79.99 euros.

With PS5 games soaring in price and inflation, such a price increase is entirely possible. Even if 79 euros would of course be a novelty on the switch and quite steep, also in view of the hardware performance of the console, which is now quite old.

Preorder elsewhere even cheaper: Currently you can pre-order Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom in the German shops of Amazon and Co. for 69.99 euros. At Otto, the pre-order price is only 59.99 euros.
