Diablo 4: Alpha testers give first feedback on the ARPG
A lot is expected of Diablo 4 from Blizzard developers and the community. It doesn’t have to be the PoE killer directly, but after the launch of Diablo Immortal, many players still look with skepticism at the 4th part of the series, which, however, is said to have little to do with the mobile offshoot Immortal. A first little feedback comes from the Friends and Family Alpha.
Next to WoW: Dragonflight, Diablo 4 is probably the most exciting sequel in the Blizzard portfolio. The game was announced at BlizzCon 2019 and is still going strong according to the Q2 financial report on course for a 2023 release. When exactly that should be in 2023 is still questionable. Despite brief rumors, a beta phase is not yet in the offing. If you want guaranteed beta access, you can register as part of the HellsInk Tour got a Diablo tattoo in Berlin on August 18, 2022, no kidding.
The Diablo 2 (Resurrected) remake proved once again that Blizzard has a loyal and passionate fan base. With a view of the mobile offshoot Diablo Immortal and its success with microtransactions, which could well be described as “macro” transactions, Diablo fans remain cautious about anticipating Diablo 4. If you can believe alpha testers, the 4th part of the ARPG series should look relatively good.
Alpha testers with positive feedback
Diablo 4 is currently in Friends and Family alpha, according to investigative journalist Jason Schreier. Only a small circle is currently testing the early version of the action RPG alongside Blizzard employees. He tweeted: “Another fun but minor Blizzard tidbit I haven’t reported anywhere: A bunch of people are playing an early version of Diablo 4 right now thanks to a Friends and Family alpha test. Players are standing under NDA, but I hear mostly positive voices.”
NDA means Non-Disclosure Agreement. Testers are therefore not allowed to wear anything to the outside world, otherwise penalties may apply. Diablo 4 has been announced with five different classes (druid, barbarian, magician, necromancer, huntress) that have elaborate talent trees and will offer a more open multiplayer world similar to Diablo Immortal, including PvP.
