Destiny 2 is celebrating “30 Years of Bungie” today with a big update – This is what awaits you
The expansion “30 Years of Bungie” starts today in Destiny 2 and all players are invited to join in the celebration. In 3 decades, the studio has worked on shooter hits like Halo, Destiny 1 and today’s Destiny 2, setting new standards. Tonight, Bungie starts its big birthday party and at the same time fills the long waiting time for the next big expansion “The Witch Queen” with new content.
But not only that. The developer would like to thank his players and has prepared a lot of loot for this. The new event represents 30 years of Bungie and is intended to celebrate a legendary community.
This is what the players can expect at the birthday event: As always, the Destiny 2 players have only received sparse information about what exactly to expect. All we know at the moment is that the new activities seem to be where loot can be picked up in abundance.

The two activities should already be accessible this evening and remind of the legendary loot cave from Destiny 1. All in all, all of this has a bit of the flair of a mysterious pirate adventure, at the end of which players expect enormous treasures.
Xur and the Nine also seem to be important in the new activities. The mysterious NPC trader could already be seen on several screenshots of the activity. Likewise the mysterious blue horse made of stardust. The Destiny 2 community suspects Xur is the adventurer from the announcement who gave up his humanity for a treasure. - Furthermore, the exotic rocket launcher “Gjallarhorn” returns to Destiny 2 via a quest. The weapon then also has the option of a catalyst, which one can probably also earn.
- There will be a playable armor set that is reminiscent of the design of the exotic handgun “Dorn”.
- Halo-inspired armor and weapons, ornament sets, gestures, sparrows, ghost covers will also be found in the birthday bundle.
- Forsaken returns one last time, so players can relive the Cayde-6 and Crow / Uldren Sov story for free.
There may be even more secrets to unravel, but Bungie won’t reveal anything and leaves it up to players to discover everything else for themselves starting tonight after the update.
Moments of triumph 2021: With the update, the Moments of Triumph 2021 will go live at the same time. This should complement the content for the 30th anniversary in a meaningful way, as Bungie promises. How exactly is not yet known. However, if players complete all required triumphs, including several Grand Master Sectors, and collect the rewards, they can unlock the “MMXXII” seal and the corresponding title.
Who can take part? Bungie invites its players to take part in the free 6-player activity and Moments of Triumph 2021. However, if you want to explore all of the content, primarily the new dungeon, you must be in possession of the paid expansion pack “30 Years Bungie”.
It was available either individually or as a bundle with the new DLC “The Witch Queen”, which will be released in February 2022. Package owners get access to additional reward chests in the free 6-player activity “Trials of Eternity”.
