New event in FIFA 22 causes trouble: “Almost every card is the same”

The new Versus event with the teams “Fire” and “Ice” is currently running in FIFA 22. They include different versions of the same footballer – but some players wanted more exciting differences.

What kind of event is that? “Versus” started last Friday with the “Fire” team that was in the FIFA 22 packs until Monday, December 13th. Then it was replaced by the “Ice” team.

The highlight: As previously announced, the same players were in the first as in the second team – but with different stats. But this is also where the problem lies: the differences between the cards are sometimes very marginal. And that is causing displeasure in the FIFA community.

Players were hoping for more significant differences in the Versus event

This is what the community says: If you look around the FIFA subreddit, the “Versus” event is currently the dominant topic. Various posts deal with the new “Ice” team, which apparently gives some players little added value compared to the “Fire” team.

• “Team 2 is literally Team 1 with two values ​​changing by +/- 2. What was the idea behind it? Very confusing, ”writes user Adzzii in his post on the subject (via reddit).
• User “FrancescoliBestUruEv” even speaks of what he sees as the worst promo of all time: “It doesn’t make sense, almost every card is the same” (via reddit).
• “People would have liked it if they hadn’t had the concept of 2 teams. The 2 teams increased expectations. If they had only released a team with these players, it would have been an average promo, ”writes user JJ-Bittenbinder (via reddit).

Basically, the fans simply don’t see enough differences between the teams. The idea actually has potential. User “SRJT16” suggests that the whole thing would have worked better if, for example, there had been a change of position between the teams. So for example an LM Rashford card in the Ice team and an ST Rashford card in the Fire team (via reddit).

Another topic is the approach that the teams could either have been equipped with 5-star skills or 5-star weak feet.

This concept was even used in the Pulisic SBC that was part of the event, where you could choose exactly between. But with the rest of the cards this was only implemented to a very limited extent.

There are some cards where the stars were turned. For example, Ice-Gabriel-Jesus has the 4/4 star combination, while Fire-Gabriel-Jusus comes along with 5/3.

It looks similar with Valverde, whose Ice card has a 5-star weak foot, while the Fire version only has 4 stars. However, it is not the case that the other variant has 5-star skills for this.

And then there are cards like Rashford – he has the same 5/3 star combination on both teams. The same applies to Koundé (2/3), Correa (4/4) or Mbabu (3/3). So something was not done consistently with the stars for all cards.

So you actually have two teams in total, with only very few cards showing really relevant differences from one another. The FIFA community apparently expected more here.
