Huge exploit in Diablo 3 ruins rankings in season 25 – fans fear a restart of the season

In the rankings of Season 25 in Diablo 3, players are exploding with insane personal bests. An exploit ensures that players clear level 150 Greater Rifts incredibly quickly. Now it is feared that Blizzard will have to crack down on it. But how hard?

What’s going on in Diablo 3? The new season 25 has been running in Diablo 3 since December 10th. Even now, less than a week after the start, an exploit is ruining the community’s gaming experience. Competing against other players in the leaderboard is an important part of a season – but exploit users have unfair advantages right now.

In the video you can see what the exploit looks like at the demon hunter for the Greater Rifts. Since the method is already widespread, players now fear that Blizzard could restart the season. That would be a drastic step.

How does it look? In the stream from Diablo expert Wudijo, a player from the Asian server was observed using the exploit live in his stream. The player in the clip is playing a Level 150 Greater Rift. This is the highest difficulty that Diablo 3 is currently offering. Usually, players struggle with the Rifts and take significantly longer to do so.

The shown player’s runs usually take less than two minutes for a complete rift including the rift boss. This type of exploitation has already got around in the community.

There are also players on the European servers who need crazy little time in the level 150 great rifts. In the following screenshots you can see a comparison of the first places in the duo ranking – there always two players play together – and in the solo ranking.

How does the exploit work? Players take advantage of unwanted mechanics that apparently cause nasty damage to demon hunters.

It is unclear whether the exploit has only been in the game since season 25 or whether it has only now been noticed. The whole thing is linked to lagging the servers. At this point, we refrain from any instructions or possible derivation from MeinMMO. Anyone who uses exploits puts their account at risk and risks being banned.

Players fear the restart of the season – “I would be very unhappy …”

This is what players say: on reddit User VERTIKAL19 writes that players with a huge exploit are doing speed runs in GR150. He suspects: “Maybe there will be a new start to the season?”

But a restart is not a solution to this problem for many players in the community. One feared the consequences if Blizzard really did it.

• “I would be very unhappy if they restart the season at this point. I’m sure you can do something with the logs on your site and find the people who cheated to ban them if necessary, ”writes Pezmage.
• b0xf0x13 writes: “I know they restarted the Asia servers because they made a mistake. But if they start over for the entire season, then they will [die Leute in Massen flüchten]”
• “I don’t think they’re going to restart the season. But I can imagine that they will ban the people who used the exploit or reset the leaderboards ”

How likely is a restart? Such a drastic step with the restart of the entire season 25 seems unlikely at this point in time. Players have pumped hundreds of hours into the new season. There would probably be a riot if the entire season was said to have been in vain.

A reset of the rankings or the deletion from the rankings of banned players who used the exploit seems to be more likely. The question is how Blizzard will deal with players who were in a group with the exploiters but who themselves did not use the exploits.
