One of the best-selling games on Steam in 2021 hasn’t even come out
Valve published the top sellers and most played games of 2021 on the PC platform Steam in December. Among the top 100 is a game that hasn’t really been released yet: Baldur’s Gate 3.
What kind of game is this? Baldur’s Gate 3 is an official offshoot of the world-famous role-playing game “Dungeons and Dragons”. It is a tactical, turn-based role-playing game in an isometric perspective (“diagonally from above”).
There you play a hero in the “Forgotten Realms”, who was used by the parasite of a dangerous mind flayer. What exactly you start with this basic situation is up to you – in any case you will have the adventure in a group with NPCs or friends in co-op.
The classes of role play and the rules of pen and paper are available to you – including correct dice-throwing in digital form. The game is developed by Larian Studios, which have already made a name for themselves in role-playing games with the Divinity series. The newest installment in the franchise, Divinity: Original Sin 2, is one of our best co-op games in 2021.
Where is Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam? Baldur’s Gate 3 ranks 41-100 in the top sellers on Steam in 2021. The list is not in order, which is why the exact status cannot be determined.
In the same category, however, there are big hits like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Crusader Kings 3 or survival classics like DayZ and The Forest, which at the end of 2021 could still attract over 30,000 players.
Baldur’s Gate 3 hasn’t even appeared yet. Early Access started on October 6th and the developers have repeatedly emphasized that the game is not finished yet. Only those who really want to help with the development should play in advance.

Valheim is the absolute winner on Steam 2021
These are the top sellers: The top sellers on Steam are made up of sales and in-game income, such as microtransactions. Since the list is not in order, it cannot be said exactly which of the top 12 games are the absolute strongest. The list looks like this:
Valheim, published in February, is particularly exciting here. This is also one of the 10 games with the most playing time (via Steam). Valheim is a small indie project from Sweden, the success of which has absolutely overwhelmed the developers.
Although Valheim is still in development and still gets new content, it still inspires over 20,000 players on average (via steamcharts.com). In September Valheim received its first major update, “Hearth & Home”.
