Spotify breaks its promise and will remain behind Apple Music
Spotify has broken its promise and worse, it doesn’t know when it will be able to fulfill it.
Apple Music surprised us in mid-2021 by announcing two very important improvements: Dolby Atmos sound and Lossless or Lossless music. Its main rival, Spotify, was quick to announce that it would have its entire catalog in high definition, equivalent to Lossless, by the end of the year. Something that was not fulfilled, what now have delayed until further announcement.
Spotify HiFi, which is the alternative to Apple Music Lossless, is not yet available and it may take time to get to the music app. On the Spotify Community website, users have expressed their frustration and outrage at the company’s inability to deliver on its promise HiFi music. And Spotify has responded by announcing that it will provide information to users when it can, but that they still do not know when they will be able to announce the launch of Spotify HiFi.
We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same way, and we are excited to offer a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have any details on a release date to share yet. Of course, we will update here when we can.
Apple music takes advantage
Spotify reported at the time that Spotify HiFi would be a free add-on for Premium users, just like the Apple Music upgrade. However, not only did they fail to deliver on their promise of a 2021 release, they don’t even know when this feature will launch.
Clearly Apple was ahead of its competition with the announcement of the music in high definition for Apple Music at no additional cost. Spotify tried to react, but it seems that it has not had enough time to incorporate this technology.
