Tired Timmendorfers are defeated by Salzgitter

Only 48 hours after the surprise victory at the leader Harzer Falken in Braunlage (3:2 aet) ice hockey regional league CE Timmendorf was brought back to the hard ground of reality. In their own hall, the Beach Devils from the Baltic Sea lost 6-0 to the Salzgitter Icefighters, conceding their ninth defeat in the 15th game of the season.

Timmendorf outnumbered quickly 0:3 behind

“The boys were a bit broken after the great performance in Braunlage. In addition, Paul Frischmuth was out, Marco Meyer had to come off the ice injured early on and an unfortunate five-minute penalty in the middle of the first third didn’t make it any easier,” explained CET coach Michael Pohl. The guests, who had taken the lead early on through Martin Zahora (6th minute), used the Timmendorfer number to score two more goals through Thomas Herklotz (12th) and Lukas Vit (14th).

But those were not the only reasons for the clear defeat of the Ostholsteiner. “Unfortunately, some players have fallen back into old patterns. Instead of playing patiently like in Braunlage, they wanted to put their heads through the wall,” said Pohl, who also praised the Icefighters, who were weak at the beginning of the season: “Something happened in Salzgitter in the past few weeks. Above all, they really act as a team. A few teams will still have problems with the team.”

The Jade Sharks are coming to Timmendorf on Saturday

Nevertheless, the Beach Devils don’t have any penalty training or anything like that. “On Tuesday we will approach things a little more playfully to clear our heads. The training deficit of the boys after the compulsory Corona break can still be clearly felt, so it makes no sense to overwhelm the boys now,” says Pohl, looking ahead to the next home game against them Jade Sharks from Sande on Saturday (7.30pm ETC).
