10 awesome mods for The Binding of Isaac: Repentance you should try
The last expansion Repentance from The Binding of Isaac brought some innovations for the player. We at MeinMMO would like to introduce you to 10 mods today that can further improve the gaming experience.
How can you install the mods? You can easily get all mods via the workshop on Steam. All you have to do is log into your Steam account and then click on the “Subscribe” button for the respective mod. The game will then automatically register the mod and install it for you.
Where can you find the mods in the game? In The Binding of Isaac you will find the sub-item “Mods” in the main menu. There you can see all active mods listed and optionally activate or deactivate them at any time.
Boss Rush Wave Counter

What can the mod do? The boss rush shows you how many waves of bosses are still waiting for you and which wave you are currently in. Normally there is no such display and as a player you constantly ask yourself “how many bosses are there?” or you have to count them in your head.
Always Open
Link to the mods and what they can do:
- 1. Mod: The portal to the Void, after Mom, Mom’s Heart/It lives, Isaac/Satan, ???/The Lamb, Mega Satan or Hush, is always open – via Steam.
- 2nd Mod: Opens the gateway to Hush, after It Lives, always – via Steam.
- 3. Mod: Access to the boss rush, according to Mom, is always open – via Steam.
- 4. Mod: Guaranteed Key Parts for Mega Satan – via Steam.
What does that mean? Normally you have to do the following things for the portals and the opening of the doors:
- Void: Only has a maximum chance of 50% spawning. However, if you manage to defeat Hush, the portal to the Void will appear 100%.
- Hush: You can only get to Hush by beating Mom’s Heart or It Lives within 30 minutes.
- Boss Rush: Access to the Boss Rush only opens if you defeat Mom in 20 minutes. If you enter the mausoleum or Gehenna in Repentance, you have 25 minutes.
- Mega Satan: You can only open the door to Mega Satan in the Chest or in the Dark Room if you collect 2 key parts. You can only get them when fishing rooms open up after bosses and you place a bomb behind the angel statue inside. After that, a fight against an angel starts and you get 1 key part. After winning 2 battles over two such angels you have both parts together and can open the gate.
The 4 mods disable the challenges, time pressure or portal opportunities and always appear during gameplay.
Visible Lost Health

What can the mod do? Normally, the character “The Lost” does not show you how many hearts you have. The mod even shows you if you have multiple shields for The Lost.
External Item (& Room) Descriptions

What can the mod do? The mod shows you a description and effects of the items and rooms in the top left of the picture. The items contain descriptions of the following things:
- Normal items as well as spacebar items
- trinkets
- cards
- runes
- All types of pills
- Possible transformations
If the descriptions bother you while playing, you can simply use F2 to hide and show them.
Planetarium chance

What can the mod do? You can unlock the Planetarium room type since Repentance. Once you’ve done that, the game doesn’t usually show you the probability that the room can appear. The mod changes that and adds a small icon with % chance in your hud.
Better Character Menu

What can the mod do? Normally, when you are in the character selection menu, the playable characters are shown as plain and uncolored. In addition, the held items are only described. The mod breathes color into the characters and shows you the held item as an icon.
Old wardrobe

What can the mod do? The mod is purely for cosmetic purposes and will spawn you a wardrobe in the first room on each level.
Since most items change the character’s appearance, there are bound to be item combinations that you’d rather see together than others. In-game time will be paused while you’re changing, so you can take your time.
