Sony supposedly gives you hour-long trials for all expensive games - but not for everyone

In a few months, the new PS Plus model will be launched, which, among other things, should bring test versions of new games. Now there is a new report about what kind of games this should affect.

What’s going on with PS Plus? In the coming months, the “new PS Plus” will be introduced – in Europe, the launch is scheduled for June 22nd. From then on there will be three different models – “Essential”, “Extra” and “Premium”.

“Game trials for some AAA games” were also advertised for the “premium” package. Now there is apparently new information on this.

PS Plus Premium should prescribe trial versions

A report by game developers according to developers who work on games that cost more than 33 euros, must provide at least two-hour trial versions for “PS Plus Premium”. That would probably include the majority of new AAA games.

According to the report, developers have up to three months after the game’s release on the PS Store to make such a test version available. This should then be available to PS Plus Premium players for 12 months.

Are there exceptions? According to the report, this should only apply to new games, not those that already exist. In addition, this does not apply to VR games.

In addition, developers should also have the option of making demo versions that are not just a time-limited test version of the game that ends after two hours. However, this should be decided on a case-by-case basis.

Also, developers are still allowed to create demos or trials for all PlayStation users if they choose. It is only mandatory in connection with PlayStation Plus Premium.

What is PlayStation Plus Premium anyway?

PlayStation Plus Premium is the most expensive of the three new PS Plus models. It costs €16.99 monthly, €49.99 quarterly or €119.99 annually.

Among other things, it offers:

  • All content from the Essential and Premium models, such as the monthly games. By the way, there is already a leak for the new PS Plus games.
