One Piece fans are demanding this character as a new Straw Hat Gang member

The straw hat pirate gang around Monkey D. Luffy is the focus of One Piece.

The One Piece anime naturally always lags behind the manga. But the joy of seeing the coolest moments from the manga again in motion, color and sound is all the greater for many fans. Sometimes characters, moments and scenes get a lot more attention than they did in the manga. This also applies to the latest episode, which focused on a very specific character. Which in turn makes many fans want this character as a new member of the Straw Hat Pirates gang.

That’s what it’s about: In the latest anime episode, there was an entire segment that was all about Yamato. The child of Kaido is probably the biggest fan of the samurai Kozuki Oden and after his death he decided to become him. Since then, Yamato has referred to himself as Kaido’s son and is also addressed by many other characters with male pronouns. Yamato had fallen out with Kaido and had to spend most of his life in captivity, reason enough to join Monkey D. Luffy in the fight against Kaido.

The anime has once again placed the character in the center very strongly, explaining his motivations and making them much more emotionally tangible. Which leaves many fans feeling strong emotions and hope that after defeating Kaido, Yamato might become the 11th member of the Straw Hat Pirates (or 14th, depending on whether ships and Vivi are counted).

It would also fit really well. After all, Yamato had to live as a kind of slave and in captivity for a long time. But Monkey D. Luffy now has the power of the sun god Nika, who is considered the liberator of all enslaved people. So if Yamato joins Luffy, it would make double and triple sense.
