Battlefield 2042 could come to Game Pass and include microtransactions

Xbox Series S/X and Xbox one players may soon be able to play Batlefield 2042 in Game Pass.

Battlefield 2042 looks back on an extremely bumpy launch. A lot has improved since then and many problems have been fixed, but fans are still waiting for new content and the first season. We still don’t know when exactly that will come, but there are new discoveries around an extensive in-game shop and premium currencies. In addition, Game Pass subscribers may be able to look forward to playing the DICE shooter as a subscription.

Quo vadis, Battlefield 2042? If you are wondering how the first person shooter from EA and DICE should continue, you may now get the answer. After various rumors about the possibility that Battlefield 2042 could become Free2Play, there is probably another step to take.

Game Pass clues discovered: Like the side XGP discovered the Game Pass sign in the Microsoft store for Battlefield 2042. In contrast to FIFA 22, the small symbol has not been removed, at least on the Polish Xbox store page is it still visible?

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but Battlefield 2042 can theoretically already be played via the Game Pass Premium tier via Game Pass Ultimate and the EA Play it contains. It doesn’t seem too unlikely that it will slip into the normal subscription tier.

Dataminers find references to in-game shop and premium currency

Update 4.0 brings pictures: The latest update also appears to have added some images to the Battlefield 2042 game code, belonging to new categories not previously featured in the game. Apparently it is planned to introduce an extensive in-game shop. According to these pictures, there could then be bundles, lots of cosmetic items, premium currencies and XP boosts to buy.

How serious is that? Quite: The finds go back to the Dataminer temporyal. He was right several times in the past and accordingly this shop could actually come. But there hasn’t been any official announcement yet and such finds don’t necessarily mean that something like this will really come into play.
