Twitch loses key streamer and crazy fans to YouTube - "The offer was fucking insane"

Even in his last live streams, Sykkuno always let it be known that something bigger was about to happen. “I’ve been very busy,” the Twitch streamer said, highlighting how rarely he was live on the platform in April. Now his fans also know why: YouTube probably made Sykkuno a tasty offer and he is now switching there.

Who is Sykkuno?

  • With 4 million followers and almost 10,000 subscribers, the 31-year-old is one of the top streamers on Twitch. At his wedding he even had 39,447 subscriptions – making him one of the best-earning streamers on the platform.
  • Around 15,000 people follow his streams almost every day. From October 2020 to June 2021 there were an average of 30,000 – 50,000 spectators.
  • In his streams, Sykkuno mainly plays GTA V, Valorant or Fortnite. However, he also likes to switch to Just Chatting to chat with his fans.
  • His fans are quite devoted to Sykkuno. When streamer Froste joked that Sykkuno wasn’t nominated for the Twitch Awards, he was sent photos of his home and threatened.

PogChamp was probably YouTube’s offer for Sykkuno, you can see what that means in our video:

Sykkuno’s streamer buddy speaks of “absolutely ridiculous offer”

What did the streamer buddy say? The streamer KristoferYee, a friend of Sykkuno, did not talk about exact numbers and possible sums that had been paid, but described the offer from YouTube as “damn insane”. He threw in the room that they probably paid him between 1 and 29 million euros.

YouTube’s deal is probably a few sizes larger than Twitch’s “absolutely ridiculous offer”. KristoferYee also doesn’t understand why Twitch is letting go of big streamers who bring viewers to the platform.

While they save on not offering streamers money to stay on Twitch, they lose in the long run. No one would switch to Mizkif after Sykkuno switched to YouTube, says KristoferYee. The thousands of fans are leaving with Sykkuno, potentially leaving Twitch forever. That is a lot of money that goes to the platform.

Sykkuno announces move to YouTube with epic video

What did Sykkuno say about his move? Along with the numerous hints and a May 1st tweet in which he simply wrote “thanks everyone,” he posted a video on May 2nd on Twitter.

In the video, the American tells of his beginnings in his parents’ tiny gazebo. That he had no plans to become a streamer and just wanted to gamble. Sykkuno listed some games like Valorant, Minecraft and Among Us that helped him achieve his success.

In the end, successful YouTube streamer and friend Valkyrae sat in a director’s chair and asked “Syk, are you ready to go?” to which Sykkuno set up his setup with the classic room divider and said, “I’m going to do what I’ve always done – just a new place.”

The streamer is scheduled to start on YouTube on May 3rd, you can watch his video here:

Valkyrae cried and fans support Sykkuno

What did Valkyrae say? On May 1st, Valkyrae and some other popular streamers and friends of Sykkuno celebrated “National Sykkuno Day”. They invited him to a Minecraft server and let him ride in a Minecraft. There were cute messages and builds along the route, reminiscent of past projects and streams with them.

Meanwhile, Valkyrae cried the whole time, she opined (via YouTube). They met over 3 years ago on a Minecraft server when he still had 200 viewers and was totally shy – when he was “Babykuno”. He shot her with an arrow instead of a skeleton, she was a mad fan of his voice and their friendship blossomed ever since.

The video shoot and switch was a special and “very important” moment for Sykkuno and Valkyrae. She also shared some behind-the-scenes insights in her YouTube video:
