3 new MMORPGs will be released in 2022 – coming from one of the largest gaming publishers

MMORPGs Kakao Games

Kakao Games, the company behind games like ArcheAge and Elyon, is bringing three more MMORPGs to the West in 2022. All three will appear for the PC, but also for mobile devices. We at MeinMMO reveal what kind of games these are and when they will come.

What are these games?

  • Odin: Valhalla Rising is a new Viking-themed MMORPG. This has already had huge success in Korea.
  • A new title from XL Games, most likely ArcheWorld. This will be an MMORPG with a focus on NFTs.
  • Ares: Rise of Guardians is a sci-fi MMORPG that’s a bit reminiscent of Destiny.

When are these games scheduled to be released? All three titles are slated for release in the West in the second half of 2022. Odin: Valhalla Rising is already playable in Korea. The other two titles are still waiting there.

In addition to the three MMORPGs, early access to Dysterra, a survival shooter, is also planned. This should also take place in the second half of 2022.

MMORPGs Kakao Games

How big is Kakao Games? Kakao Games has made a lot of money over the past few quarters, mostly from Odin: Valhalla Rising. They bought ArcheAge developer XL Games in 2021 and are just behind Krafton (PUBG, PUBG Mobile) and NCSoft (Lineage, Aion, Guild Wars 2) in terms of sales.

Odin is a huge hit in Korea

What kind of game is this? Odin: Valhalla Rising is an MMORPG inspired by Norse mythology. So you should be able to meet well-known characters like Odin, Freyja or Thor and visit iconic places like Yggdrasil and Niflheim.

  • There are four different classes: warrior, rogue, priest and sorceress.
  • The game is based on a Holy Trinity.
  • There are various movement options, such as swimming and climbing.
  • The open world dispenses with loading screens.
  • There are mounts that can also fly.
  • PvP battles play an important role.

Odin grossed over 11 million euros in Korea within 48 hours of its release.

The release was actually planned for 2021, but has been postponed. Now it is scheduled to take place in the second half of 2022.
