Spirittea: Rural bath house wants to be renovated in life simulation

In the life simulation Spirittea, a writer ends up in the country to fix a bathhouse.

Publisher No More Robots (Hypnospace Outlaw, Descenders) and developer Cheesemaster Games today introduce Spirittea, a life simulation set in rural East Asia in which players renovate an old bathhouse and help dozens of spirits find their peace.

Inspired by the cult life sim Stardew Valley and classic ghost anime and manga, Spirittea follows a writer who escaped to the countryside to clear his head and find inspiration for his next novel.

However, after accidentally drinking from an ancient mystical teapot, our protagonist begins to see the spirit world intersecting with his reality.

Wonyan, a troublesome cat ghost and faithful guide, shows the writer how many ghosts need to be saved – and hands him the keys to an old bathhouse where the ghosts relax.

Spirittea is both a life simulation and a management game in one. Players live from day to day, finding local NPCs and ghosts to help, and pursuing many different hobbies from bug catching to karaoke.

Each ghost you help will then show up in your bathhouse, where you can offer them towels, salts, snacks, and a delightfully hot bath. Upgrading your bathhouse with new furniture, rooms, and baths is key to attracting the most exciting spirits, including the elusive Lord Spirits, each occupying an entire room.

Spirittea will be coming to PC and console later this year.
