PS Plus: Pay extra, get little – probably not as many games as expected

The new PS Plus is already available in Asia. However, Extra or Premium subscribers now have to realize that there are far fewer games than expected.

Asia – When Sony introduced the new PS Plus, the PS5 manufacturer still spoke broadly of an impressive line-up. Players who opt for the PS Plus Extra subscription should have access to up to 400 games for PS4 and PS5. If you buy the more expensive PS Plus Premium, up to 340 classic games are added to the collection. After the launch of the new PS Plus in Asia, many PS5 fans have now found that these numbers have not yet been reached.

PS Plus: Asia gets fewer games for Extra and Premium than expected

How many games will gamers get on the new PS Plus in Asia? The new PS Plus has been available in Asia (except for Japan) since May 23rd. However, gamers have not yet been able to enjoy the full pack of PS4 and PS5 games for PS Plus Extra and Premium. Instead of Sony announced “up to 400” Play, there are currently just under 250 titles available on PS Plus Extra. Among them are 224 titles for the PS4 and only 33 games for the PS5.

As far as PS Plus Premium goes, the game rating in Asia is even worse. Instead of “up to 350” additional classics, players will only receive 50 titles for PS1, PS2, PSP and PS4 so far. Incidentally, PS3 streaming has so far been completely missing in the Asian PS Plus, which is why the subscription is offered here at a slightly reduced price. The complete list is up Sony’s website to find. But even without the titles for the PS3, you only get just under 300 games with a subscription to PS Plus Premium in Asia. Just for comparison: Sony promised up to 740 games to announce the general overhaul of PS Plus.

PS Plus: The situation for Extra and Premium in Europe is not yet clear

Will Europe get just as few games in the new PS Plus? It is currently not yet clear whether the line-up for PS Plus in Asia will also be launched in Europe to the same extent. Players in local areas should be able to count on at least PS3 streaming. Before the service can also be launched in Europe, however, all other regions of the world will first be connected to the network. From June 1st, Japan can look forward to the new PS Plus. In North, Central and South America, the starting signal will be given on June 13th. Europe brings up the rear. The new PS Plus starts here on June 22nd.

Recently there was already trouble with PS1 games in the new PS Plus. Titles should only be available in jerky PAL versions in the new PS Plus. Whether Sony will make improvements here is not yet known. At the same time, the PS5 maker seems to be looking more and more towards another platform and could soon bring PS Plus and PSN to PC.
