The worst stat in Destiny 2 is now the best in the game - what makes it so good?

In Destiny 2 there is a stat called Resilience. Throughout Destiny history, this has been considered one of the most unnecessary character stats in the entire game. Since the release of Season 17, however, Bungie has polished the value to be one of the best – is it worth it now?

What was so bad about resilience? Throughout Destiny history, Resilience was considered the worst stat. This value minimally increased your shield capacity in the past to get more protection and since Beyond Light reduced the damage after breaking out when you were frozen by Stasis Ice.

However, this protection was so small that it could be neglected. It didn’t help to survive longer, nor did increasing it to 100 make a difference.

Therefore, many Guardians focused primarily on the Recovery value, as this gave you an increased and noticeable life regeneration. With the new change in Season 17, however, Bungie has made history because for years of being useless, value can come in handy.

Bungie finally gives you more protection

What has been improved? Although Titans love the perk for their increased barricade charges, it didn’t do much good for the remaining two classes. But now, at the start of the new Season 17, Bungie has polished the value so that at level 10 it gives you a whopping 40% damage reduction on all elements and damage types.

Esoterickk, a Destiny 2 expert and well-known PvE all-rounder, has now put together a comparison video in which he shows how useful the new change really is:

You can tell that your Warden can withstand more shots with a maximum resilience value than without. So if you’ve also noticed that you can’t stand it as much since Season 17, that could be the reason.

We wrote down all levels and damage resistances of the new resilience:

  • Level 1 – 1%
  • Stage 2 – 2%
  • Level 3 – 3%
  • Level 4 – 4%
  • Level 5 – 8%
  • Level 6 – 14%
  • Level 7 – 20%
  • Level 8 – 26%
  • Level 9 – 32%
  • Level 10 – 40%

You can see a noticeable percentage increase after Tier 4, so if you have enough stats left, investing in resilience would be beneficial.

Is the value also worth it in the endgame? Definitive. As seen in Esoterickk’s video, the damage reduction can be increased up to 67% and make you a real tank.

In Grandmaster Raids or Vanguard Dawns, more resistance can save you life, because in these tough activities, shots melee attacks are more deadly.

So should you finally want to create a walking tank that can take more shots, the new refreshed stat is a must. However, if you’ve already focused primarily on intelligence, mobility, recovery, or discipline, you can try putting a few free points into resilience. Every bit helps and makes you more persistent in the fight.

Now you are asked, did you notice that the resilience stat has been improved? Or have you been caught up in that frustrating new Iron Banner mode everyone’s been talking about? Let us know what you think of the change and if you’re switching your builds to resilience now in the comments!
