Diablo 4 has finally gotten a release period, another class and a new trailer.

Finally there is more information about Diablo 4. At yesterday’s Xbox and Bethesda showcase, not only was the Necromancer presented with a new trailer, the release period was also limited. But that was not all. Diablo’s General Manager Rod Fergusson reveals a lot more information on Twitter. For example, how it should continue after the launch of Diablo 4 with new content and a lot more.

Diablo 4: Manager reveals post-launch content plans

That’s what it’s about: Diablo 4 is slated for release next year, aka 2023. That was announced yesterday, and now we also know that years of support are planned to follow. Among other things, it revolves around full story DLCs and cosmetic items, which remain optional.

Here you can check out the fifth and final class of Diablo 4, the Necromancer:

Diablo 4 becomes full price title: If you had any doubts about this, we can reassure you. Like Diablo 3, Diablo 4 has to be bought and therefore probably doesn’t rely on Diablo Immortal’s Free2Play and Pay2Win approach. Rod Fergusson confirmed this again on Twitter.

Full Story Extensions: In addition, there should be new content for many years after the launch of Diablo 4. What we know about it so far also sounds like the more classic approach that was used with Diablo 3. For example, there is talk of “full, story-based extensions”.

Optional cosmetic items: In addition, Diablo 4’s post-launch strategy should also be built around cosmetic but optional items. That sounds like a lot of skins and could be a bit like Fortnite and Co. That too is cautiously optimistic, but it remains to be seen how the whole thing will ultimately turn out to be real. More details will be revealed “soon”.

Crossplay, Cross-Progression & Couch Co-op: When asked, the Diablo manager also explains that there should be crossplay and cross-progression for Diablo 4. If this really works across all platforms and generations, that would be very good news. The local multiplayer mode aka couch co-op is also set to make a comeback.
