Rumor: New Fire Emblem main game has been ready for over a year
The Fire Emblem series is getting a new addition in about a week with Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. However, this is not a classic turn-based strategy title, but rather a Musou-style spin-off.
So far, Nintendo has not announced when the next offshoot of the main series will be released. But if the latest rumor from a supposed insider is true, the next part could have been finished long ago.
Fire Emblem celebrates belated anniversary
Video game industry insider Emily Rogers put in the Famiboards forum a post revealing surprising details about the new installment in the Fire Emblem series. According to this, the title should have been developed long ago, as it was originally supposed to be released for the 30th anniversary of the Fire Emblem series, i.e. in 2020.
The title could possibly be part of the next Nintendo Direct that should be waiting for us soon:

What do we know about the game? The new Fire Emblem should therefore have a completely new story and is a product of the collaboration between Intelligent Systems, Koei Tecmo and Gust. The development studio Gust is known for titles like the Atelier series and helps out with the graphics, which are said to be better than Fire Emblem: Three Houses.
The main character is said to have a strange blue/red hair coloring and a dragon mother. On Reddit and Twitter we can see leaked images of the supposedly new game, which show the protagonist, among other things:

New Emblem Feature: In addition, similar to Fire Emblem: Heroes, it should be possible to summon characters from older Fire Emblem titles and recruit them as team members.

Fans have their doubts about authenticity
How much can we trust the leak? Emily Rogers is a reliable source. She has been known as a Nintendo leaker in the past and many of her rumors have been proven to be true in hindsight. For example, she predicted the date of previous Nintendo Directs.
However, fans disagree as to whether the leaked screenshots are real images. A mouse pointer can be seen on each of the images, which can always be seen in the same position. Users see further evidence of a fake in the text clipping and the main character himself, whose model seems to be reminiscent of Nahobino from Shin Megami Tensei V.
So, as always, we should take the rumors with a grain of salt and wait and see if Nintendo reveals new information about a possible Fire Emblem offshoot in the upcoming Direct.
What would you wish for in a new Fire Emblem title?
