Publishers all in! Games and female-led developer Naraven Games announce that their first commercial title, Backfirewall_, will be released later this year for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch platforms.

Backfirewall_ takes you on a tragicomic adventure with the cheeky, self-confident operating system OS9. Facing the problem of being replaced by the far more optimized OS10, OS9 has a simple goal: protect the phone from updates and stay alive. Starting today and ending June 20th, Backfirewall_ is participating in the Steam Next Fest. The first game demo is free on Steam available.

Story: You, the update assistant, have been commissioned by the ominous update protocol to update the cell phone’s operating system. But the old, buggy OS9, which definitely doesn’t want to be removed, has other plans.

Backfirewall_ describes the suffering of programs whose code is regularly deleted and replaced as technology advances. Explore a strange and wonderful smartphone environment teeming with life and treacherous conversations.

Navigate the bureaucratic nightmare of WiFi or party in the exclusive nightclub the speaker and meet many quirky characters, each an irreplaceable piece of personalized software with its own rich file history, brought to life by iconic voice actors!

Backfirewall_ is an incredible nano journey in which you manipulate your environment to solve puzzles, find bugs and use cheat codes to disrupt the update.
