Nintendo Switch repairs on subscription? It's in Japan now

Yes, you heard me right. In Japan, Nintendo offers subscription repairs for the Switch. The “Wild Care” service is available for 2,000 yen (about 15 euros) per year.

Monthly tip for full maintenance service

at wild care is a “flat rate repair service that can be subscribed to at any time.” Eligible submissions include Switch and Switch Lite consoles, Joy-Con controllers, the Switch dock, and power adapters.

The subscription model can be paid annually or monthly and entitles you to six repairs a year, which can cost a total of roughly 710 euros.

However, no intentionally caused damage is included. Only defects and malfunctions that occur due to natural causes, water damage and accidental damage are covered by the service. Shipping costs are also covered.

To subscribe to Wild Care, users in Japan need a smartphone or tablet with a camera. So far it is not clear whether Nintendo has plans to offer the maintenance subscription outside of Japan.

At least have your Joy-Cons repaired regularly

The Joy-Con controllers often go on strike. Long before the console, they give up the ghost and succumb to the well-known drifting problem, for which the manufacturer has been accused several times.

For me, the subscription sends a rather bad signal, because with hardware that also lasts a few years, no customer would have a reason to take out such a subscription.

how do you see it? Is the subscription a good idea for anyone who wants to continue enjoying their console after the warranty has expired, or are you rather skeptical about this repair service?
