WoW is probably giving away the Epic Edition of Shadowlands right now – did you get it too?

Players are reporting that they are finding the Epic Edition of the current addon World of Warcraft: Shadowlands on their account – just like that, as a gift. This is the most expensive version to buy digitally, with tons of content.

• The Shadowlands Epic Edition actually costs €74.99 in the Blizzard shop without discounts (via Battle.net).
• Currently appearing reddit and other social media, we keep getting posts from confused fans who suddenly just find Shadowlands as a gift on Battle.net.
• Nobody can say exactly what is behind the action. However, many suspect that this is a PR campaign for the upcoming Dragonflight expansion.

Who gets the gift? According to current information, the Epic Edition is mainly given to former players worldwide. There are posts in different languages, including German.

Apparently, players who haven’t played for a while are primarily affected. MeinMMO has already asked Blizzard if this is actually true. However, the answer is that there is currently no information to share with us.

If you want to check for yourself if you’re one of the lucky ones, simply log into the Battle.net desktop app. You should then be greeted directly with a gift or you will find a notification with the bell in the upper right corner.

Free Shadowlands – Coming soon to subscription anyway

What’s behind the gifts? For some time now, the old WoW extensions have simply been integrated into the subscription as soon as a new addon is released. In this way, new players should also be able to play up to the fresh content without first having to buy many previous expansions.

Since Dragonflight is scheduled to be released in 2022, it is likely that the game will be called attention to again and former players will be encouraged to play. Soon nobody will have to buy Shadowlands anyway.
