FIFA 23: Switch players get a slimmed down version again

FIFA 23 (Sport) von EA Sports

Nintendo Switch owners are once again on the sidelines with FIFA 23: The so-called Legacy Edition is coming to the handheld hybrids again this year without any significant improvements or updates.

This has been the case since FIFA 19, where Switch players couldn’t see any major differences compared to the previous version. While there is definitely something new to see with the women’s teams at club level and a few fresh features, the number of returning features of the 22nd edition outweighs the number.

Hardly any new content in FIFA 23 for the Nintendo Switch version

On the official Nintendo eShop page for FIFA 23 we find the disappointing news in EA’s own words: “FIFA 23 Legacy Edition will contain the same gameplay features and modes as FIFA 22 Legacy Edition, without any new developments or significant improvements”, it states precisely. This also means that we will have to do without the cool innovations of the other platforms, above all the long-awaited cross play in FIFA 23, but also the renewed mechanics, more realistic physics and the revised chemistry system, should we be on the Japanese console game forge on the square.

The features returning from the last part are the following:

  • kicking off
  • career mode
  • Tournaments – licensed and individual, including the UEFA Champions League
  • women’s international cup
  • Skill games
  • Online seasons and friendlies
  • local seasons

In addition, there will be new jerseys, clubs and leagues and a few new stadiums will be integrated. There are also some improved graphic elements and the commentators have been improved. FIFA 23 will be released on September 30th for consoles and PC and already the two stars gracing the cover this year have been revealed. This is the first time a woman is on the Ultimate Edition of the title.
