Amazon Prime: Price increase in Germany from September
High inflation and rising operating costs
There were indications: Amazon is increasing the prices for the Prime subscription in the EU including Germany. The increases are between 20 and up to 43 percent!

From September 15th, Amazon will charge 8.99 euros a month in Germany instead of 7.99 euros. If you pay annually, you get 89.90 euros instead of 69 euros. The latter amounts correspond to an increase of around 30 percent! The news agency reports Reuters (Yahoo! Finance) according to an announcement by the online giant on Monday.
In other countries, the rate of inflation fluctuates. While the USA and the UK will soon get off lightly with 20 percent each, things are looking bleaker for Spain, Italy and France. Here the price increases amount to 39 to 43 percent.
Amazon justifies the step with the high inflation rate and rising operating costs. As early as June it became apparent that the company would probably take this step. There have been changes in the Amazon Terms of Service where the topic of price increases has been adjusted.
Who by said September 15th Annual subscription to Prime books, still pays the old price of 69 euros. This can at least be used by interested people who have been waiting until now. There is also the option to test Prime for 30 days free of charge – provided this test has not yet been taken. Another option for some users would be to discontinue the subscription. After all, Amazon wants to make it easier to cancel Prime.
Students, trainees and those who are exempt from broadcasting are also affected by the price increase. The fees are halved, but they increase proportionally. The annual subscription increases in price from 34 to 44.95 euros. If you have monthly debits, you will pay 4.49 instead of 3.99 euros from September 15th.
