When it comes to networking, we usually focus more on the new products on the market that have great visuals and sound. But the small MPS-810.bt speaker with its wild mix of options is so outstanding that we don’t want to withhold it from connected homes.

There is more technology in its very simple-looking plastic housing than you might think. It is primarily on offer as a (3-watt) speaker for bathrooms and kitchens that wants to entertain with music. For this purpose, it not only receives analog but also digital radio. You can also insert an SD card, which can be used as a storage medium for songs. Finally, Bluetooth is also integrated. Radio players can be docked like a smartphone as a music source.

But the most surprising feature is an integrated microphone. Networked with the smartphone, the loudspeaker offers a hands-free function. Since the little one is also splash-proof, Pearl’s idea is that you can even use the phone while showering. It remains to be tested whether this actually works acoustically and whether it is intelligible despite the rushing water. It probably works better when chopping vegetables in the kitchen.

The battery radio is “installed” on smooth surfaces using a suction cup. The exceptional talent costs 40 euros.
