Lord of the Rings: new game in development at Weta Workshop
After the franchise has taken a backseat in recent years, 2022 marks a big one for all fans of the Lord of the rings-universe a sort of return to Middle-earth. at Daedelic is currently being created The Lord of the Rings: Gollum a stealth adventure for all platforms and in September awaits Amazon Prime Video the series The Rings of Power.
As if that wasn’t enough, has Private Division now another game in the popular cosmos of JRR Tolkien announced. This is created in cooperation with Weta Workshop and is currently still in a very early stage of development.
Lord of the Rings: New Game announced
The partnership and the game were over Twitter announced. What kind of game it is, however, is not explained in detail.
On their website, the team goes by Private Division however, in more detail. So have Weta Workshopwhich is actually on the production of Movie Props and merchandise are specialized, 2014 own gaming department founded. That’s where the new title is supposed to be created. Michael Woroszthe Chief Strategy Officer of Take Two Interactive says:
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Wētā Workshop to release a game set in such an extraordinary and celebrated universe […] The Lord of the Rings IP is home to so many remarkable stories, and none better suited than the team at Wētā Workshop to create a distinctive new Middle-earth gaming experience.”
Also Amie Cloudsone of the leading figures of Weta Workshopcommented on the announcement:
“It’s a privilege to create a new game set in Middle-earth, especially one that’s so different from what fans have played before […] As fans ourselves, we look forward to players exploring Middle-earth in a way they have never done before and introducing new fans to the magic of The Lord of the Rings.”
However, we don’t have to plan for an early release. The game is therefore still in one early stage development. A publication is not before the fiscal year 2024 planned.
This is Weta Workshop
That new zealand company Weta Workshop is considered one of the largest manufacturers of Movie Props at all. In fact, they were also at the Lord of the Rings Movies from Peter Jackson involved. they produced prostheses, weapons, armor, creatures and miniatureswith whom middle earth was brought to life. Also the new one rings of powerseries is part of their portfolio. In addition, the company offers impressive on its own website characters and miniatures from different franchises.
