Lord of the Rings: Private Division and Weta announce new project

Another new video game based on The Lord of the Rings is in development.

Private Division, a Take-Two publishing label, has confirmed the game, which is being made in collaboration with Weta Workshop.

Few details yet

That’s basically all the information we have, not much more is known. What is clear is that it is set in the Middle-earth universe of JRR Tolkien’s books.

A release date has not yet been set, but the game is expected to be released in Take-Two’s fiscal year, which begins in 2024.

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Weta Workshop to release a game set in such an extraordinary and celebrated universe,” said Michael Worosz, Chief Strategy Officer at Take-Two Interactive and Head of Private Division.

“The Lord of the Rings IP is home to so many remarkable stories and no one is better equipped to create a distinctive new Middle-earth gaming experience than the team at Weta Workshop.”

Apart from that, EA is currently working on a new The Lord of the Rings mobile game, while Daedalic is still busy with The Lord of the Rings: Gollum.
