Sit down by the fire, grandpa will now tell you a story from the distant past: we didn’t have anything back then and were therefore easily won over. at Wave Race 64 the fascination is still justified today, but in 1996 the title wrote a revolutionary piece of video game history. Luckily, very soon (this week!) everyone who owns a Nintendo Switch – and has subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription and expansion pack – will be able to see for themselves.

Wave Race 64 comes in the expansion pack of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription

Extremely good news: One of the coolest and quirkiest N64 games is coming to the Nintendo Switch. As part of the N64 Classics online subscription with expansion pack, you can plunge into the wet waters and plow through the waves later this week. Wave Race 64 lives up to its name and is, then as now, an absolute must.

This is Wave Race 64: In 1996, the racing game was an absolutely stunning showcase of what’s possible with the new Nintendo hardware. Not only do we zoom through the area at breathtaking speed, but we do it in a three-dimensional environment, on top of waves that look and feel reasonably realistic. Can’t stress it enough: 3D water folks – with 3D waves! The water physics was a revelation.

Otherwise, of course, the name says it all: we jump on our jet skis and race around. Stunts can be completed and of course there are tons of different modes available. Of course, there’s also split-screen multiplayer, which was just fantastic. He should be on board again this time, but there is no trace of online multiplayer. The music alone provides for unbelievable nostalgia shivers.

How does the subscription work? Basically like PS Plus and Co.: You pay an amount and get access to online functions such as multiplayer and cloud saves. There are different levels and with the Expansion Pack you can not only play NES and SNES classics, but also some N64 titles. You can find all information about it here:
