Destiny 2: Arkus 3.0 will give you Blitzdings – and Jason Statham is to blame

d2 arc blast

can you hear it crackle? A deadly electric storm is approaching in Destiny 2 with Season 18, as Bungie has released the first information about the new lightning skills Arkus 3.0. Hunters get their beloved teleport back, Warlocks are the storm you don’t want to get caught in, and Titans may even experience mobility for the first time. All of this is inspired by Jason Statham in Crank 2: High Voltage. Time to charge up with electricity.

What does Bungie bring to the game with Arkus 3.0? After Bungie integrated a completely new ability class into the game with Stasis in 2020, the old classes Void, Solar and Arkus seemed pretty dusty. Also because Stasis offered players a lot more options through additional aspects and fragments. So, at the launch of The Witch Queen, Bungie began gradually overhauling the old skill classes and making Stasis equal.

It started in Season 16 with the emptiness skills. Season 17 then saw the upgrade for the Solar abilities, and Season 18, starting August 23, 2022, will now be the last thing to polish up the Arc abilities, so Wardens will soon be able to “Lightning Thing” anything and everything in Destiny 2.

An electric storm comes at your opponents with Arkus.

Bungie’s new lightning power is inspired by Crank 2: What is waiting for the players at the start of Season 18 sounds very electrifying. The players should from now on in Destiny 2 like Jason Statham in the action film “Crank 2 – High Voltage” feel.

In Crank 2, Statham plays a hitman with an artificial heart that doesn’t have a battery. Because of this, whenever his heart’s current level drops too low, he must recharge himself with a power source. And for that everything is fine with him. In the film, he not only sucks on a car battery, but also uses sockets or power lines for more power. What would kill other people only makes Jason Statham stronger as Chev.

And that fantasy now comes to Destiny 2.

Maximum speed and increased power: In order for players to be able to use the full electric power in Destiny 2, Bungie will “amplify” it from Season 18 onwards. A boosted Warden can move faster, and already without having to equip the new aspects or fragments. Quick kills with arc weapons can also provide a boost.

  • Thus boosted, after a few seconds of sprinting, players already increase their speed and get longer gliding abilities. The mobility boost stays active as you keep sprinting.
  • Reinforced also grants increased damage resistance in PvE.
  • All classes can create and collect ion trails, which then add power to all of your abilities.
  • Arkus 3.0 also brings back old favorite skills. These include the Titan’s “Titan Dash” and the popular teleport ability for hunters, “Blink”.

Everything about Arkus 3.0 is geared towards moving quickly to aggressively use the new abilities right next to your enemies.

  • You can blind enemies in PvP, giving them an annoying beep in their ears.
  • Enemies in PvE become disoriented so they can no longer use their weapons. Enemies affected by Arc can also spread Chain Lightning to nearby enemies.

All Arkus 3.0 capabilities at a glance

Warlock – Star Wars Sith with deadly lightning fingers

The Warlock controls the current with his body.

Like the Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, supreme Sith Lord in Star Wars, the Warlock in Destiny 2 will continue to channel electricity through his body and direct it towards his enemies. You will have 2 super abilities and 2 melee options to do this. Both can also be strengthened.

For example, the Ball Blitz melee will not just create a floating ball of arc energy that explodes. It will also shake the primary target, causing a chain reaction that will also damage nearby enemies.

However, if you are reinforced, you trigger a double chain, which can then also jump to twice the number of enemies.

In addition, the following aspects are available to the warlock:

  • Bow Soul: The Warlock casts a Rift to create an Arc Soul that aids the player in combat. Allies that pass through the rift also gain an Arc Soul. The Rift charges faster when allies are nearby. While buffing, each Arc Soul is charged, increasing its rate of fire.
  • Lightning strike: The Warlock activates his melee combat while gliding to transform into a ball of lightning and teleport forward, calling down a field of lightning at the exit point that shakes targets.
  • Electrostatic Spirit: Kills with Arc abilities and kills on enemies with Arc Debuff create Ionic Traces. When players collect an Ion Trail, they will be boosted.

Hunter: Deadly in the middle and gone quickly

Hunters can teleport again with Arkus 2.0.

Destiny 2 wants to reward hunters who get into the midst of enemies, even in difficult content. To that end, Arkus 3.0 will allow the hunter to block and deflect projectiles with the push of a button, as well as perform an armored dodge. This makes him more resistant to incoming damage when dodging from Season 18.

In addition, the hunter regains the once popular “Blink”, i.e. the teleport ability, and on top of that gets a brand new super ability, the “Gathering Storm”.

This is the Hunter’s new Arc Super: With it he can jump in the air and ram a spear into the ground or an enemy. On impact, the staff emits a damaging burst that shakes nearby enemies. Soon after, a huge bolt of lightning hits the staff and overloads it, creating a large damage zone around it for several seconds. While the staff is overloaded, it emits arcs of lightning to damage any enemies that come near it.

Hunters can choose from three arc aspects to customize their tactical style:

  • Flow state: Defeating a shaken enemy causes Guardians to be empowered. When the hunter is buffed, dodging charges faster and makes them more resistant to damage. It also has faster reload times.
  • Tempest Strike: Allows the hunter to perform a gliding melee attack that unleashes an arc wave across the ground, dealing significant damage and shaking enemies in its path.
  • Deadly Stream: After dodging, the hunter’s melee range is increased and his next melee attack shakes the target. This creates a damaging, lightning-fast aftershock. When used with the Arc Spear Super, the Hunter’s next light staff attack after dodging hits twice. Also, hitting a shaken enemy with a melee attack will blind them.

Titan: Hits like an electric freight train and becomes more mobile

The new Arkus-Titan becomes the electrifying Bud-Spencer among the Guardians.

With Arkus 3.0, titans can finally experience what mobility means. Also, their ultimate goal will be to smack their enemies in the face. So Bungie is bringing a few Arc abilities into play for this that will make fist-to-face contact as much easier as possible. In other words, from season 18 onwards for all titans: hit it whenever possible.

The Titan Floor Slam is back: In order for Titan opponents to have an impactful experience, Bungie is keeping the Thunder Clap Super. In addition, the “Fist of Havoc” comes back into play. This Super will be halfway between the upper and lower paths, and her ground slam leaves a damage field. A punch from the air, on the other hand, causes a damaging AOE effect.

Like the other subclasses, Arkus 3.0 Titans also have three aspects to choose from:

  • Touch of Thunder: Enhances arc grenades in the following ways:
    • Flashbang: Fires an additional blinding pulse on initial impact.
    • Impulse: When the grenade damages an enemy, it creates an ionic trail for the titan. Pulse grenade damage increases over time as the grenade lingers after impact.
    • Flash: Grants an additional charge for flash grenades and shakes targets on the first explosion.
    • Storm: Creates a wandering thundercloud that moves and pursues enemies (similar to the Stasis Hunter’s Silence & Squall Super) and fires bolts of lightning at the ground below.
  • Juggernaut: While sprinting and at full class ability energy, the Titan gains a front shield that blocks incoming damage. When reinforced, the shield is stronger. Once the shield is depleted from taking damage, the player’s class energy is depleted.
  • Knockout: Melee kills trigger health regeneration and empower the Titan. Critically wounding an enemy or breaking their shield increases melee range and damage for a short time. Titan’s basic melee is Arc-empowered while Knockout is active.

Last but not least, the new Arc abilities will again have fragments that can be used to further specialize your Warden.

  • Spark of the Beacon: When the player is buffed, Arc special weapon kills create a blinding blast.
  • Spark of Resistance: When surrounded by enemies, the player has increased damage resistance.
  • impulse spark: Gliding over ammo reloads the weapon and grants a small amount of melee energy. Gliding over heavy ammo increases the amount of energy granted.
  • Spark of Shock: Arc grenades shake enemies.

When will there be the first movements of the new skills? On August 23, Bungie will show the first movements with Arkus 3.0 in its official showcase. We have summarized all the details about the showcase and the upcoming Season 18 in this article.
