Schalke 04 Esports kicked out one of their top players. Professionals criticized the decision. The club has now issued a statement on the decision.
Update from 09/02/2022: At first, Schalke 04 Esports did not want to comment on the incidents surrounding Isma’s expulsion. After the rumor mill had simmered, especially on Twitter, the club initially faced harsh criticism. When screenshots of the player’s chat history appeared, however, Schalke received a lot of encouragement. Now the club itself made a statement on Twitter:
“The responsibility we have as Schalke 04 goes far beyond what we have towards our team and the esports communityit says there. The association further states “LoL customs may be a little different, but internally we all measure by the same standard: we don’t stand for hate or toxic behavior. Everyone at Schalke – players, managers, employees, board members – is encouraged to internalize this.”
In addition, Schalke 04 Esports clarifies: “Schalke 04 has been working against racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination for many years. […] Something people seem to forget is that things you say online have very real effects on people. This is real life and the things we say carry weight. Please keep that in mind.”

Update from 08/31/2022: After Schalke 04 Esports did not want to comment on the incidents surrounding the jungler Isma, some Twitter users seem to have taken matters into their own hands. Screenshots of the in-game chat history are currently circulating on the social platform, in which Isma apparently insults someone from his team in the worst possible way.
While there was criticism for Schalke 04 from some corners of the internet and from parts of the League of Legends pro scene, the German streamer and influencer Jona “Johnny” Schmitt stood by the club. He wrote in a tweet “Flamers are outlawed, not supported“.

Top French player Ismaïl “Isma” Boualem has to leave the club. Isma was active as a jungler in the “League of Legends” team for Schalke 04 Esports. Even if Schalke 04 Esports does not go into the background in more detail, a “incident‘ behind the scenes may have been the reason for the sacking. Isma’s fans are speculating about this incident and how Schalke 04 Esports will fare without the top youngster among the other Esports teams.

What happened? The news of Isma’s expulsion was published on the evening of August 29. In a short statement, the e-sports organization says that Isma “release with immediate effect‘, so it’s not entirely clear whether Isma will be playing again any time soon. The English version of the tweet also confuses fans who are not sure how Isma will be dealt with in the future.
