PlayStation VR2 apparently confirms its launch in 2023, GamersRD

New reports claim that Sony plans to manufacture a total of 2 million units of its new PlayStation VR2 peripheral.

This report comes thanks to Bloomberg website, which reported that mass production of the headphones began last month. These high production numbers show that Sony has an “ambitious” roadmap ahead of the VR2 release, he told himself.

Sony sources said the company anticipated higher demand for VR2 than its original PS4 headset, which took eight months to sell a million units.

The same sources claimed that Sony would launch the PlayStation VR2 in early 2023 for “match expected relief” of the supply chain issues that caused the PS5 stock shortage.

Sony is aiming for its VR2 headset to compete in the VR market with its biggest competitor in the industry, Meta. The Meta Quest 2, previously seen as an affordable entry-level headset, recently saw a 33 percent price increase.

Pricing for VR2 has yet to be officially announced, but it is expected to compete with Meta Quest 2.
