God of War Ragnarök: Rating references bloody combat and beheadings

The ESRB rating that the upcoming God of War Ragnarök has received shouldn’t really come as a surprise.

The game has been given an M-Rating (Mature), at the same time the description published along with the rating gives us a few clues as to what to expect from the game.

Why God of War Ragnarok was ranked this way

There is talk of fighting various enemies, including dragons and trolls, and swear words like “shit” and “fuck” can also be heard. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who played the predecessor.

“This is an action-adventure game in which players help Kratos and his son on a dangerous adventure,” reads the synopsis.

More God of War Ragnarok news:

“Players will explore different locations and engage in frenetic hand-to-hand combat with human-like predators and fantastical creatures (e.g. centaurs, trolls, dragons). Players use axes and chain blades to fight their enemies, often resulting in large blood splatters and dismemberments.”

“Players can perform bladed and hand weapon attacks that demonstrate impaling at close range; repeated ax blows to a creature’s neck result in decapitation.”

God of War Ragnarök will be released on November 9, 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
