F1 22: Mika Häkkinen and more in the October update

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

The EA SPORTS F1 22 October update brings more content for the F2 2022 season and Mika Häkkinen as an icon in My Team.

Codemasters and Electronic Arts are expanding the EA SPORTS F1 22 content with a variety of updates starting October 11th. F2 takes the spotlight with the 2022 FIA Formula 2 World Championship. Players can now jump into the 14 round season, including F2 Sprint, and face off against new contenders Logan Sargeant, Jack Doohan and recently crowned champion Felipe Drugovich.

The popular manager mode “My Team” gets a new addition on October 17th with Mika Häkkinen as the newest icon. The “Flying Finn” won two consecutive world championships in 1998 and 1999 and was one of the most respected drivers of his generation. Champions Edition players can relive old rivalries and compete against other icons in the game, including Michael Schumacher, whom Häkkinen described as his biggest rival.

Following the 2022 FORMULA 1 HONDA JAPANESE GRAND PRIX, McLaren Racing’s Future Mode special livery, inspired by the futuristic and innovative landscapes of Singapore and Japan, will be offered as a free download to all players for a limited time. There is also the option to download the Future Mode livery permanently for free from December and equip the player car with it.

As the F1 season heads west, all players will receive free US-inspired content via in-game mail. A US-inspired Stars and Stripes livery, helmet, race suit and gloves, and The Griddy podium celebration will be available starting October 17th. The dance craze that took the celebration of US esports to a whole new level finally makes its way to F1 22 for all player-made drivers. More customization items can be unlocked in the 30 Free and VIP tiers of Podium Pass Series 3, coming October 12th.

“We’ve packed so much into the latest update that there’s something for everyone,” said Paul Jeal, Senior Director F1 Franchise at Codemasters. “Whether it’s vibrant podium pass items, crazy dance routines, a new race icon or the full 2022 F2 season, players have tons of new content and the perfect reason to get back on track.”

F1 22 embraces the new era of Formula 1 with this season’s revolutionary cars designed for more competitive racing, F1 Sprint and thrilling race day moments like formation laps, safety car moments and pit stops. The game includes current track updates for Spain, Australia, Abu Dhabi and the new Miami International Autodrome. For seasoned veterans, F1 22 expands its capabilities with the return of My Team, now with three starting points, the acclaimed 10-year career with two-player functionality, multiplayer including offline split-screen and VR for PC.
