Chris Pratt’s voice is removed for a reimagined voice of the original Mario in the Super Mario Bros. movie and the community accepts it

The controversial trailer for Nintendo’s animated film of The Super Mario Bros. with Chris Pratt as the voice of everyone’s favorite Italian plumber, was released this past October 6 and the community completely rejected it.

People are generally disappointed that Pratt looked nothing like the iconic character from the trailer, apparently not taking any inspiration from Charles Martinett, the voice actor who originated the role and created Mario’s trademark accent, along with nearly every other character in the video game.

However, there is a light at the end of the road as Carlos Morillo, who claims to be a voice actor, wrote on Reddit: “I edited the Super Mario Bros. movie trailer to see what it would sound like without Chris Pratt” and judging by the feedback online, this version is much closer to what the public had hoped for.

By mixing his voice with Martinet’s, Morillo completely replaces Pratt’s voice and reinvents the trailer. People are more than happy with this change.

“Wow, I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, that maybe Mario’s high-pitched voice wouldn’t work for a full movie, but it’s actually much better that way. Now I wish they weren’t using Chris Pratt,” one person wrote in the YouTube comments.

One commentator also pointed to perhaps the key ingredient in why Pratt’s performance seemed to flounder. “Famous voices should stick to the voiceovers of humorous documentaries; let the voice actors do the real work. There is so much more life to a character played by a professional voice actor.”.
