It Takes Two: Developer’s new game will be ‘something really freaking cool’

Hazelight Studios, the Swedish developer who penned popular titles like It Takes Two or A Way Out, is now teasing its new game in a confident manner.

Studio Head Josef Fares revealed opposite VGCthat his team would make good progress. However, in the same breath he warns against over-enthusiasm, because there is “much more to do”.

Despite this, Fares himself can only hold back a little. He said the new title from the creators of It Takes Two is “definitely a step in the right direction.” He also promises fans of the studio that it will be “something really fucking cool”. Whatever the game, he says it’s going to be “a surprise in a good way” that will blow our minds.

There may even be a more concrete announcement to come, as in a few days Fares will be at this year’s Game Awards 2022 to present the Game of the Year award ceremony. However, it is uncertain whether Hazelight Studios will also be talking about their next title here. Fares is considered to be particularly energetic and open in the industry, which is why the assumption does not seem completely unreasonable.

After the developers have worked with Starbreeze and 505 Games in the past, Electronic Arts recently took over the publishing contracts for A Way Out and It Takes Two. The latter is considered to be Hazelight Studios’ biggest commercial and critically acclaimed success to date, as reflected in its more than seven million units sold.

The title will be released for the Nintendo Switch in November along with other exciting games. And a film adaptation of It Takes Two only seems to be a matter of time.
