CoD Warzone Caldera is coming back again today and that’s changing

The new old Warzone map Caldera will go offline for a few days, but should then return.

Call of Duty Warzone Caldera is coming back today, running alongside Warzone 2.0.

Call of Duty Warzone Caldera is coming back today, running alongside Warzone 2.0.

Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 does not completely replace the predecessor CoD Warzone Caldera. The first part was shut down when the sequel was launched, but it’s back online today. So if you don’t feel like the new Al-Mazrah map or just want to see the old skins and camos again, now’s your chance. But there are a few changes.

CoD Warzone: If you don’t feel like playing Al-Mazrah, you can play Caldera again from today

What happened? Warzone 2 was released before and in order to get the launch off the ground cleanly and to generate more attention, the old Warzone was switched off without further ado. Since November 16, only Warzone 2.0 could be played, and Caldera was offline for almost two weeks. But the break is nearing its end.

When does it continue? Call of Duty Warzone Caldera should be playable again from tonight:

  • Expected at 7 p.m Central European Time, November 28th.

However, on the Call of Duty Blog officially announced that this point in time will only be reached in all likelihood. It also stated that this would be the case if “the Warzone 2 ecosystem” were then completely stable.

Whether Warzone 2.0 can now be described as completely stable is probably in the eye of the beholder. The servers are currently online and working, but there are quite a few technical difficulties, bugs and glitches that could be completely fixed almost two weeks after the launch:

That should change with the relaunch of CoD Warzone Caldera

  • The name is officially no longer Call of Duty Warzone, but CoD Warzone Caldera. This helps to better distinguish Warzone 2.0 and makes it clear once again that the old Verdansk map can no longer be played – unless you play the soon-to-be-released mobile version.
  • The in-game shop will no longer be available. That means you can no longer buy anything in CoD Warzone Caldera. You can still use your old skins, but you cannot take them with you to the new Warzone 2.0. This only works with the CoD points.
  • Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep are missing: In the future you will have to completely do without Resurgence rounds on Rebirth Island. The second, much smaller map of CoD Warzone also disappears from the options. You can really only play Caldera.

However, it was also announced in the same breath that fans of the smaller Warzone maps and modes should get replacements for them within Warzone 2.0 in the future. There is currently nothing more specific about this, but apparently new small maps with alternative modes are also planned here.
