The Witcher Remake is coming much later than you thought!
In October of this year resigned CD Projekt RED somewhat surprisingly a remake of the role-playing game The Witcher. Even then, the team made it clear that the work on this extensive project would still be in one very early stage condition. But the release of the new edition will probably be much longer to wait than many of you would have thought.
When is The Witcher remake coming out?
Managing Director Adam Kiciński spoke at a recent event investor conference to speak to report on some of the current projects of the developer studio. Among other things, it was also about Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC Phantom Liberty, but of course there was also the remake of The Witcher (buy now €119.95 ) to the language. When asked about his release period Kiciński had an answer that was certainly somewhat disappointing for many fans.
“The Witcher remake will be post-Polaris. It’s a consequence of how we feel about this project. We believe the remake will be largely based on Polaris technology, so it will be partly developed in parallel with Polaris . But once Polaris is released, everything for Polaris is in its final form, which will then be partially incorporated into the remake.”
What is this “Polaris”?
“Polaris” is the internal codename for The Witcher 4 or whatever the next game in the RPG series ultimately will be called. Accordingly, the remake of The Witcher will only after the release of The Witcher 4 appear. However, no specific date has yet been set for this. So you should assume you several more years having to be patient before you can enjoy the new edition. Incidentally, this is based – just like the next game from The Witcher – on the Unreal Engine 5.
