91 cut and now in Game Pass: German surprise hit is causing enthusiasm
Chained Echoes is developing into a real surprise hit and you can play the RPG from Germany in Game Pass from today.
Good news for everyone with a Game Pass subscription, but not only them: Chained Echoes is out today and is becoming a real hit. On OpenCritic, the average rating currently stands at a whopping 91. This means that God of War Ragnarök and Elden Ring are the only 2022 releases to have been rated higher so far. You can play the RPG from Germany not only on Xbox and PC, but also on Switch, PS4 or PS5.

Loving SNES tribute: As you can easily see, Chained Echoes is a game that is heavily based on JRPGs from the Super Nintendo era. But behind the classic style is apparently a real gameplay gem with modern approaches.
The whole thing was initially developed by just one person, with whom we spoke at gamescom 2020. You can read the interview about Chained Echoes here.
Previous reviews are enthusiastic: On the review aggregator page OpenCritic Chained Echoes manages to earn a current average rating of 91 from the reviews. 100% of critics recommend the title. Few games can do that.
For comparison: The puzzle game Freshly Frosted also scores 91, as does the acclaimed point-and-click adventure Norco for its story. In 2022, however, only God of War Ragnarök (93) and Elden Ring (95) are left.
This is praised: Chained Echoes delivers everything that was good about classic RPGs of the SNES era, but without the disadvantages of that generation. Anyone who only remotely knows what to do with 16-bit JRPGs should be well served here.

Few reviews so far: Numerical evaluations and average evaluations are of course only of limited significance. In this case, however, there is currently also the fact that very few reviews of Chained Echoes have been published so far.
While big blockbusters often have two or even three-digit numbers when it comes to the amount of reviews, there have only been five reviews for this game so far. But these five reviews at least really agree that Chained Echoes has become a real exceptional title.
You can play Chained Echoes at no extra cost with Xbox Game Pass. In addition to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, Chained Echoes is now also available for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC.
