What is the new anime Suzume about?
The fantasy film tells the story of 17 year old Suzumewhich has to close doors in various disaster areas in Japan for those there devastation are responsible.
Her journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu, southwestern Japan, when she meets a young man who is looking for a certain… looking for door. Suzume then finds a single weather-beaten door standing upright amidst ruins, as if spared from any cataclysm.
Seemingly drawn to her power, Suzume grabs the knob. As a result, begin to appear everywhere to suddenly open doors in Japanwhat an all around devastating disaster brings with it. Suzume needs this portals as fast as possible close again and connect the past with the present as well as a future, um to prevent further harm.

‘Suzume’ (originally titled ‘Suzume no Tojimari’) was directed by Makoto Shinkai (‘Weathering with You’), who also wrote the story. Masayoshi Tanaka is also responsible as character designer, Kenichi Tsuchiya is on board as animation director and Takumi Tanji as art director. The anime is produced by Toho Animation.
Together with Sony Pictures and Wild Bunch, Crunchyroll is also bringing the new anime “Suzume” to German cinemas, which is already is a great success in Japan and is being hailed as the filmmaker’s new masterpiece.
