With Fritz OS 7.50, the AVM firmware for Fritzbox routers receives a new update. In addition to new functions, the update also brings a new design of the user interface in the associated smartphone app. Initially, only the Fritzbox 7590 will receive the update to Fritz OS 7.50, other routers are to follow successively.
Fritz OS 7.50: This is new
As AVM announces in the official announcement, Fritz OS 7.50 should ensure improved performance in the WLAN mesh. With the new software update, higher data throughput and more stability should be possible on both WLAN bands.
In addition, further features are being introduced in the smart home area, which are intended to simplify the automation of certain processes. The function called “scenario” should be able to be activated by gesture control, among other things, and carry out preset options for smart household items independently. Also new on board are “routines” that carry out certain actions under specified conditions.
In addition, the FritzFon is equipped with voice control, which can provide information about calls or calendar entries, for example. Furthermore, Fritz OS 7.50 gives the user interface of the control panel a new coat of paint, which should provide more comfort and a better overview.
The update to Fritz OS 7.50 is always automatically installed on all compatible devices. At the start of the new software, however, this is exclusively about the Fritzbox 7590, like AVM in the associated Release Notes writes. The update can also be started using the “Search for new Fritz!OS” function in the router settings.
